For this week’s blog, we've interviewed an artist creating animal inspired art in a non-traditional medium- Dog Treats! Dog treats don't have to be boring. These edible little creations are truly works of art created by Madeline Enochs of Café Wooflepurr. Let’s find out more about Madeline and her tempting animal inspired treats.
Animals have always been such a big part of our lives, and to me the everyday dog treat was not appealing at all. This inspired me to create something totally different. And by doing this, I’m taking a healthy treat and creating something that the pet owner can enjoy.
I hand paint pet treats with a yogurt icing, using just a toothpick.
I started painting treats about 5 years ago, and it has just evolved into something that I think is pretty amazing. The response from the pet owners has been over whelming, they buy it for their dogs, but almost hate to give it to them because it is a piece of art.
We have 2 dogs. Diesel a 7 year old Siberian Husky, and Benny a 3 year old Brussels Griffon. They are 2 completely different dogs. Diesel has the beautiful blue eyes and loves to play catch the toy, and Benny is a true lap dog. I always have to be near him. We also own several fish and a breeding pair of Angel Fish.
I can’t say I have a favorite because each one is hand painted and unique in their own way.
My husband does artwork also. He works with different mediums – and I have finally convinced him to start painting again and selling it at a local farmers market. Our new website is currently under construction, and we are really excited about our existing products and several new products to come, with our lines of soaps, dog sprays, artwork and postcards. Other things we're keeping under wraps, so please keep checking our site.
