This week we bring you Loveday Funck from Watson, LA. She calls her collection of Animal inspired art “Animal Folk.” According to Loveday, it is “flavored with history and fairy tale mysticism.” “I play with surrealistic themes, referencing both pop culture and historical sources.”
Now let’s meet Loveday…
I've always loved animals. As a child, when all the other children wanted to grow up to be nurses and police officers and firemen, I wanted to be a zoologist. Unfortunately, my science skills were never the best so I moved away from that dream, but I think a small part of it will always linger in the back of my mind.
I work digitally, combining my own photography with a lot of antique imagery and vintage portraits.
I started in jewelry design, then graphic arts and moved gradually toward what I do now. I started creating digital art about two and half years ago.
Currently, we have a rescue puggle named Marley. I have a cat, another tortoiseshell, named Emo Ninja Kitty as well as a black manx named Onyx. My daughter has a grey manx (no relation) named Pookie..
My favorite piece is usually the very last thing I created so I would have to say that Birthday Kitty is my current favorite. I was just musing what would a Wonderland cat wear on her birthday? It's just a little silly and a little whimsical.
