Kathrin Molsbeck Lampwork Artist Inpired by Animals

Kathrin Molsbeck from Animalbeads is this week’s interview. Kathrin is 34 years old and lives in Germany in a little town named “Peine” near Hannover. She works part time as a nurse with the intensive care ventilation patients. Her wish for 2015/2016 is to work fulltime as a lampworker with a little local store and open a glass-working studio teaching lampworking.

Let’s take a look at the very creative and talented Kathrin!

How do animals inspire your artwork?

Since my childhood, animals have always been a part of my life. I can´t life without a little companion. I find a pet is often a better and more loyal friend than a human. I am very engaged in animal protection.

How long have you been creating art?

Since 2010 i am working with glass. The idea making  little animals with glass was a idea from my husband, he would have a memorial from our deceased cat. On my first artisan exhibitions  the people seen the cat-pendant and asked – if I can make a personally pendant from their pet. So was born the idea for Animalbeads.

Do you own or have you owned any pets and if so, tell us about them?

Yes I have a wonderful white Cat her name is Gingin she is 11 years old and a sweet longhair Chihuahua her name is Hanna 4 years old. Hanna was an orphan. She was treated as a puppy from her owner. She found me and has captured my heart.

What is your favorite piece of artwork you’ve created and why?

That’s a very difficult question –because I love all my beads –I think my favorites are are the frogbeads – the cute little frogs are standing for luck and happiness. I think everybody can need a potion of it.
